The Ye Olde English Inn and Black Horse Pub off Downing Street in Hollister is transitioning to new ownership.

The Dailey family renovated the historic building that was built in 1912 and opened the inn and pub in 2011.

Janet Dailey, who was the family member behind the renovation of the historic property, died in 2013. In 2014, only sections of the pub was open to the public and the inn was only open upon group requests.

“Last year, we didn’t have the dining room at its full potential, ” Mary Dailey said.

She said new ownership is a positive thing for the Dailey family because they want the pub and inn to be fully operational again.

“It was just an opportunity for us to sell it to someone that has the experience and know-how to run all of those operations. It’s a very positive thing for us.”

The Dailey family would like to bid farewell to the community who has supported the business over the years.

“We really want to thank the people that have patronized us: our friends, our customers, our vendors, great staff ... we want the best for Hollister, truly.”
